Robert D. Kersten Graduate Fellowship

This fellowship is offered by the College of Engineering to new graduate students, including international students.  Graduate engineering students interested in applying for this fellowship should contact the program coordinator or department chair of their major for more information. 

This fellowship award is approximately $3,250 per year ($1,625  per term Fall/Spring).   This fellowship is not awarded in conjunction with other fellowships, and the student is eligible to receive the fellowship only once.  Evaluation of candidates will be made by the College of Engineering.  There are approximately 8 available each year, two per engineering department.

Eligibility:

  • Students must be fully admitted to a graduate Engineering program in order to receive the award.
  • Students must be enrolled for at least nine hours of graduate coursework or 1 hour of thesis or dissertation during each fall and spring term of the award.

Continuing academic progress (Graduate GPA of at least 3.0 for each term of the award) is required to maintain the eligibility to receive this fellowship.

Walt Disney World Company and University of Central Florida Graduate Fellowships for Fall 1999

The College of Engineering and the Walt Disney World Company sponsors the Admiral Joe Fowler Endowed Fellowship and the General William E. "Joe" Potter Endowed Graduate Fellowships which are merit awards. The fellowships are named in honor of Admiral Joe Fowler and General William E. "Joe" Potter to acknowledge their contributions to the Walt Disney Company and, in particular, their leadership amd commitment to the establishment of its Central Florida facilities.

Each fellowship covers the full cost of tuition plus a stipend of $3,250 per year. The awardees will also receive an offer of employment for up to 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters and up to 40 hours per week during the summer managing engineering projects for the Walt Disney World Company. Alternatively, the student may work up to 20 hours per week in the sponsoring academic department.

Fellowships are guaranteed for up to two years provided the student maintains an acceptable standing and continues to make progress toward his or her degree program. The awards are limited to two years, even for doctoral students whose degree programs may extend longer.

All application materials, including transcripts and GRE scores, must be received by March 1 to receive consideration. Students who pass the preliminary qualifying review will be notified on or about March 15 to arrange an interview. Eligibility

  • Award of the fellowship is contigent upon continued enrollment as a full-time graduate student in the College of Engineering at the University of Central Florida.
  • Applicants should be interested in project engineering and management.
  • Applicants should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong leadership ability.
