Graduate Degree Programs
This year, UCF approved four new master's programs:
- Master of Arts in Applied Learning and Instruction
- Master of Science in Biotechnology
- Master of Science in Digital Forensics, with Professional and Science/Computing tracks
- Master of Science in Technology
Five new graduate certificate programs were approved:
- Emergency Management and Homeland Security Certificate
- Clinical Nurse Leader Certificate
- Severe and Profound Disabilities Certificate
- Software Engineering for Web-based Applications Certificate
- Systems Engineering Certificate
Eight new graduate degree tracks were also created in the following programs:
- Higher Education Track and Social Science Education Track in Education PhD
- Criminal Justice Track in Public Affairs PhD
- Professional Track in Accounting MSA
- Visual Language and Interactive Media Track in Film and Digital Media MA
- Professional Track and Research Track in Criminal Justice MS
- Systems Engineering Track in Industrial Engineering MSIE
Program name changes occurred for the following programs:
- Physical Education MA became Sport and Fitness MA with Health/Wellness and Applied Physiology Track and Sport Leadership and Coaching Track
- Curriculum and Instruction MEd became Teacher Leadership MEd
- Technical Writing Track in English MA became Technical Communication Track
- Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education Track in the Educational Leadership MA became Higher Education/Student Personnel Track
- School Counseling Track moved from the School Psychology EdS to Education EdS
University Fellowships
The university is proud to offer a number of merit-based fellowships to new degree-seeking graduate students. Each year, incoming graduate students who apply by the Fall Priority admissions deadline are eligible for university fellowship consideration. Among the most prestigious awards are the Trustees and Presidential Doctoral Fellowships. Both fellowships are competitive awards offered to the most outstanding doctoral students who have demonstrated excellent professional development and scholarly achievement.
The UCF Graduate McNair Fellowship is a competitive fellowship that is offered to the most outstanding undergraduate McNair scholars who are accepted into UCF graduate programs. This fellowship award is worth over $20,000 for a master's student and more than $35,000 for a doctoral student. Award recipients are selected by the UCF Graduate Fellowship Committee.
As of Fall 2008, doctoral students receiving the UCF FAMU Feeder Fellowship or the UCF Graduate RAMP Fellowship will receive a $10,000 award (plus tuition support) for up to four years from the university, while master's students will receive a $10,000 fellowship (plus tuition support) per year for up to two years.
We are also pleased to announce the availability of two AT&T Graduate Fellowships in Modeling and Simulation. These awards provide $25,000 (plus tuition support) to students engaged in their dissertation research on live simulation. Applicants for this fellowship will be currently enrolled at UCF in an accredited doctoral program, involved in (or about to be involved in) the research phase of their dissertation, and agree to full-time enrollment for the term of this fellowship. In a continuing effort to support the research efforts of our graduate students, the university provides over $100,000 per academic year in travel funding to master's, specialist, and doctoral students who deliver a research paper or comparable creative activity at a professional meeting.
