Share Your History with UCF Archives

It’s time to raid the attic, your childhood closet, or your great Aunt Ethel’s scrapbook.  The Special Collections and University Archives at the UCF Library is ready to add to its collection.  If you or your family have documents with historical value, your family history could literally become part of UCF’s archives.

Historical records can be announcements, certificates, awards, newspaper clippings, and even pamphlets.  Special Collections and University Archives are also looking for your historic media, such as audio recordings, films, yearbooks, and memorabilia.  Historic documents can include:

  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Announcements
  • Audio recordings
  • Certificates and awards
  • Charters
  • Correspondence
  • Directories
  • Financial papers (budgets, reports)
  • Legal documents
  • Memorabilia
  • Minutes
  • Motion picture film/ videotape/ DVD
  • News clippings
  • Photographs
  • Press releases
  • Programs
  • Printed materials (handbooks, pamphlets, brochures, fliers, etc.)
  • Publications (newsletters, journals, yearbooks, etc.)
  • Reports
  • Speeches

Documents like these make up UCF’s Special Collections, which are found on the fifth floor of the campus library in Room 501.  Graduate students can access the collection to find unique pieces of history for their research.

To learn if your documents could be archive material or to submit them to UCF’s Special Collections and University Archives, contact Senior Archivist Sandra Varry or visit the Special Collections website for more information.
