Progressive Change in Advisement System in the College of Graduate Studies

The College of Graduate Studies is excited to release to its Graduate Student population a remarkable new tool in academic advisement called the Graduate Plan of Study (GPS).

We made it a priority to listen to our students who expressed their frustration using the outdated and difficult-to-use DARS interface. After months of analysis, we decided that it would be in the best interest of our valued graduate students to implement the new GPS system. The GPS promises to simplify the process for updating a student’s plan of study, accessing degree-audit reports and manipulating program and course information in hypothetical “What If” scenarios, making it easier for students to plan their academic career.

Several features of this new system include:

  • Real-Time updates and 24-hour access to a Student’s Plan of Study
  • The ability to view transfer credit, review completed courses and monitor in-progress coursework
  • The ability to assess the  number of courses or other program requirements needed to complete your degree
  • The ability to simulate “WHAT IF” scenarios and determine the impact of course changes, should you decide to make changes to your program
  • The ability to display progress in non-course requirements
  • Allowing for class enrollment directly from the Interactive Report

The College of Graduate Studies is constantly looking for bright and effective ways to enhance your student experience and continues to provide academic support and guidance to all its graduate students. In the weeks to come, the College of Graduate Studies will announce important updates and will be offering several training sessions in the spring for students. All questions should be directed to gps@ucf.edu.
