Loving UCF’s Risk-Taking, Entrepreneurial Spirit

Todd DeeryTodd Deery wears many hats for the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA). It all began in 2005 when there were just a dozen students committed to the program. As the Admissions and Communications Director for FIEA he loves and enjoy the diversity that this position entails. “I travel and recruit students, I work on making the admission process for our program as understandable as possible, I create all the marketing collateral and online materials, I do media relations and PR for the program, I tour the community through the building and I teach and work with the rest of our talented faculty on curriculum and related issues.”

Deery earned his Master of Arts in English at Stetson University and has been in education for 20 years. He worked in the marketing department at Valencia State College for eight years and has taught at Valencia, Stetson University, and Seminole State College before coming to UCF. He has  written travel books, been a freelance music and arts writer, and worked at a couple of ad agencies; however, education has always been his first love. Deery states, “I really love UCF’s youth and its entrepreneurial spirit. It’s not afraid as an institution to take some chances and try new things. The world changes fast and I feel that UCF does a good job of trying to keep up with it. I know we try to do that here at FIEA.”
