Pathways to Success

The College of Graduate Studies partners with a number of offices throughout the university to offer Pathways to Success. More than sixty free workshops will be available to graduate students throughout this semester. Topics range from research strategies to personal finance to how to start a thesis or dissertation. The program also offers seven online workshops that focus on creating a strong resume or CV and conducting a career search.

In addition to the free-standing workshops, Pathways includes a number of workshop series. The Oral Communication in Academia Series assists graduate teaching assistants in building and maintaining credibility in the classroom. The series covers topics such as Speaking Credibility in the Classroom, Dealing with Communication Anxiety, and Enhancing Student Comprehension

The benefits of attending the personal development workshops could reach far beyond the limits of campus. The Personal Finance Series helps guide students to a healthy financial situation with workshops such as Credit-Your GPA after Graduation which teaches students what they need to be aware of when dealing with their credit. The Loans-What You Need to Know When Financing Workshop covers different types of loan people most commonly apply for where to begin depending on your situation.

Coming up in September, graduate students can obtain tools to help with their Thesis and Dissertation on September  18, in Completing the Thesis or Dissertation, or  Formatting a Thesis or Dissertation Using Microsoft Word's Hidden Tools and obtain some Time Management Strategies on September 23. These are just a few of the many workshops offered throughout this semester.

For a full schedule and description of workshop offerings, or to register for a workshop, students can visit www.students.graduate.ucf.edu/pathways. Those with questions about Pathways to Success please email gradworkshops@ucf.edu.
