UCF Places Emphasis on Ethics

On September 5, the UCF College of Business will kick off its Dean’s Speaker Series with Dr. Gregory Trompeter, C.G. Avery Professor of Accounting. Dr. Trompeter’s talk “Detecting and Preventing Fraud: Whistleblowers and Social Accountability” will be held at the Citrus Club in downtown Orlando from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

A prominent fraud researcher, Dr. Trompeter focuses on issues related to fraud detection and deterrence. His message regarding the importance of honest employees is echoed in the Academic Integrity workshops offered by the College of Graduate Studies and the Office of Research and Commercialization as part of the Pathways to Success program.

These workshops in ethics and the responsible conduct of research are completely free. They are required of all doctoral students but all graduate students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Some upcoming sessions include:

  • Authorship, Credit and Collaborative Scholarship and Research: Ethical Pitfalls to Avoid
  • Ethics: Personal Integrity as a Graduate Student
  • Ethical Decision Making in Graduate School and Beyond
