Excellence in Cyber Defense Research
The University of Central
Florida has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber
Defense Research (CAE-R) by the National Security Agency and the Department of
Homeland Security. University of Central Florida will hold this title, through
the academic year of 2022, due to the ability to meet increasing demands
of the program criteria. The university will serve the nation well in
contributing to the protection of National Information Infrastructure.
Two strategy programs in the field are The Presidents’ National
Strategy to Secure Cyberspace which began in February 14, 2003 and the
International Strategy for Cyberspace which began in May 2011. Not only do they
address the critical shortage of professionals with these skills, but these
programs highlight the importance of higher education as the key solution to
defend our country’s cyberspace. “Like all nations, the United States has a
compelling interest in defending its vital national assets, as well as our core
principles and values, and we are committed to defending against those who
would attempt to impede our ability to do so.”
University of Central Florida will accept the certificate at a reception,
presented by the National Cyber Summit in Huntsville, Alabama in June 2017.
